Top 3 Vietnamese Restaurants in Winnipeg, Manitoba

Vietnamese cuisine, renowned for its vibrant flavours and aromatic dishes, has seamlessly woven itself into the fabric of Winnipeg’s culinary scene. The heart of the city, particularly the central and west areas, plays host to some of the finest Vietnamese spots.

After savouring numerous options, here are my top three picks:

Viva Restaurant

📍505 Sargent Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1W1

As a loyal Viva customer for years, recommended by a Vietnamese friend, my journey began with the Combination Egg Noodle Soup – a flavourful broth that hooked me instantly.

Top picks:

  • Salad roll with a delectable peanut sauce
  • Hot & Sour Soup, surpassing most Chinese restaurants
  • Deluxe Vermicelli for a satisfying portion
  • Combination egg noodle soup, a broth lover’s delight
  • Viva fried rice, featuring tasty Chinese sausages for added texture
  • Vietnamese coffee, both hot and cold, reaching stellar heights!

Explore beyond my favourites – soups, noodle dishes, rice plates, and set dinners, each a winner.

Ha Long Bay Restaurant

📍772 Notre Dame Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0L9

Ha Long Bay’s star dish is the Satay noodle soup, whether beef or chicken – a peanut-crushed delight. The broth is rich, flavourful, with a hint of spice. Over the years, I’ve had many bowls of their Satay soup. Additionally, the experience extends to their absolutely delicious summer rolls and chow mein.

Pho Kim Tuong

📍856 Ellice Ave, Winnipeg, MB R3G 0C4

A Winnipeg favourite, Pho Kim Tuong draws crowds with its extensive menu, including bubble tea. My top pick? The deluxe vermicelli – bursting with flavour, loaded with meats, and features sugar cane shrimp.

I believe it’s the only Vietnamese restaurant in town that provides complimentary fruit.

Extra Mention

T. H. Dang

📍1425 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2C2

For a quick bowl of noodle soup when downtown feels distant, T. H. Dang in South Winnipeg is my choice. Customers also rave about their vermicelli bowls, spring rolls, and more.

Parking: small parking lot on the side of the building
