I published a blog post, Discover Winnipeg’s Latest Culinary Spots, in April 2026 about four new restaurants I tried in Winnipeg. Well, I’ve tried a few more since! Here is the latest roundup:
1. House of Ma
It’s located on Bannatyne Ave. in the Exchange District.
If you haven’t visited downtown in a while, Bannatyne Ave. starting from Waterfront Dr. is a westbound one-way street packed with trendy restaurants. House of Ma is a fantastic addition to the block, with Highwater Bar & Eatery opening right next door shortly after. (I haven’t tried Highwater yet – one stomach can only do so much).
House of Ma is an Asian fusion restaurant showcasing a mix of Filipino, Chinese, Korean, and Thai dishes.
Right now, if you try to Google House of Ma, you’ll basically hit a digital ghost town – no website, no social media presence, and absolutely no menu. Thankfully, I’ve got your back. If you check out my full review link below, I’ve shared parts of their menu so you can at least get an idea of what they offer!

2. Sottobraccio
Sottobraccio is run by the same team behind Harth Mozza & Wine Bar. It’s a hip, shared-plates style spot, making it a great place to hang out for a few drinks and a meal if you’re wandering around Osborne Village.

Now, I live much closer to Harth, so naturally, I’m going to bias that location more often. But it’s thoughtful that the owners finally listened to the collective weeping of customers who were tired of driving all the way deep into South Winnipeg just for a fix.

3. Kevin’s Bistro Corydon
This is Kevin’s Bistro’s second location, and it actually shares a roof with Stella’s. I tried their original spot in the Exchange District years ago, and while the food was great, the menu was pretty much a carb fortress dedicated mainly if not entirely to mac and cheese. I’m not a huge mac person, so I never really made it back.
But this new location completely changed the game. The menu features a much wider variety of dishes like sandwiches, mussels, tacos, and flatbreads, and it’s super gluten-free friendly.

4. Ocean Bites
Ocean Bites is owned by a young Ukrainian couple who have only been in Winnipeg for three years. It has a uniquely cool vibe – you can regularly hear Ukrainian and Russian spoken throughout the restaurant by both the staff and the customers.
I was seriously impressed by their ramen and mochi, and their sushi dishes are absolutely beautifully plated. Quick heads-up for the hardcore raw fish purists though: while you’ll find salmon and tuna sashimi in the appetizer section, there are no traditional sashimi platters or assorted sets on the menu.
Midway through the meal, my friend already declared she was planning a return trip just to crush some BC oysters and try the rest of the menu.

5. Kim & Choi’s Hansik Korean Cuisine
They opened their doors in late May, and my friend and I managed to sneak in during their very first week. Because they were brand new, a few menu items weren’t quite available yet, but the staff and owner were incredibly friendly and deeply apologetic about it.
Honestly, it didn’t even matter because everything we did try – from the seafood tofu stew to the assorted pancakes – was absolutely delicious. I already have a mental list of more dishes I want to try on my next visit.

Bonus: Pho No. 1
Okay, Pho No. 1 isn’t technically a new restaurant. In fact, it’s been around for years and has a fiercely loyal customer base. However, parking at their old spot on Isabel was a total nightmare. They packed up their old Isabel location and moved to McPhillips Ave. in mid-July. If you ever struggled to park at the old spot, you’ll be happy to know the new, slightly larger location features a proper parking lot out front.
I’m not entirely sure if they’ve updated the menu since I hadn’t been there in a hot minute. But what I can tell you is that it fills up fast at dinnertime. The first time I tried to check out the new spot, the lineup was so massive I just straight-up gave up.
